What is a Tier 1 General UK Visa (HSMP)?
This category has been closed and you cannot apply for visa under this category. You can only make an application for Indefinite Leave to Remain under this category before 05 April 2018. You will need to score relevant points to make a successful application for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
Qualifying points are awarded based on of the following categories:
Age
Applicants are awarded points based upon their age group. Applicants aged 40 or above are not awarded any points.

Age under 30 = 20 points |
Age under 28 = 20 points |
Age 30 to 34 = 10 points |
Age 28 to 29 = 10 points |
Age 35 to 39 = 5 points |
Age 30 to 31 = 5 points |
Qualifications
These points are awarded based on the applicant’s highest level of education.
PhD = 50 points
Master’s degree= 35 points
Bachelor’s degree = 30 points
UK Experience
Applicants will acquire an additional 5 points if they can show they’ve either studied in the UK or worked in the UK.
Earnings
These points are awarded based on the applicant’s last 12 months earnings. If the applicant obtained their first Tier 1 visa after 5th April 2010 they’ll gather different points than those that obtained their first Tier 1 visa before the 5th April 2010:

£29,000- £31,999.99 = 30 points |
£50,000-54,999 = 30 points |
£26,000- £28,999.99 = 25 points |
£40,000-49,999 = 25 points |
£40,000-49,999 = 25 points |
£35,000-39,999 = 20 points |
£20,000- £22,999.99 = 15 points |
£30,000-34,999 = 15 points |
£18,000- £19,999.99 = 10 points |
£25,000-29,999 = 5 points |
£16,000- £17,999.99 = 5 points |
It is important to note that the applicant will need to show that his past earnings as a Tier 1 General Migrant were genuine and all the taxes in relation to same have been paid to the UK Government. However if you are refused then you will be banned for 10 years under paragraph 320 of the Immigration Rules.
